I joined Kadant Johnson (formerly The Johnson Corporation) in June 1980 in the accounting department. As Director of Sales and Marketing for Johnson’s European division, The Johnson Corporation Holland B.V., I oversaw a reorganization of sales organization and traveled extensively to support our business development opportunities and sales teams in Western Europe and Scandinavia.In addition to championing significant year-over-year growth in sales during this time, I held a crucial role in the restructuring of the UK office, which we evolved from a small manufacturing plant to a steam and condensate system engineering operation that also supported product sales throughout Europe and South Africa. I was an integral part of the consolidation of manufacturing licensees moving a significant amount of business in-house.During this time, I reported to the managing director of The Johnson Corporation Holland B.V., and I was based in The Netherlands with my family.In 2001, I accepted the role of Vice President of Sales for The Johnson Corporation and moved my family home to Three Rivers, Michigan. In my role as International Sales Manager for The Johnson Corporation, I traveled extensively throughout Latin America supporting our manufacturing licensees and representatives. I also had the opportunity to support our leadership in the search for a joint venture partner as Johnson looked to build a plant in China. We ultimately accomplished that goal and continued to grow the business around the world. This work gave me a great foundation for leading and implementing strategy in a way that fuels growth. As a fresh business administration graduate of Nazareth College, I was very interested in working for The Johnson Corporation, and when I was offered a role in accounting, I decided to simultaneously delay my college graduation so I could take additional accounting course work. This ultimately served me well as I’ve now worked for Kadant Johnson for nearly 40 years. As a new hire, I worked in cost accounting, which gave me a great breadth of exposure to learning the company from the ground up and particularly in operations.
