I recieved my Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Texas at Austin in 2024. My research focuses on the long-term genomic dynamics and theoretical modeling of symbiotic systems. With a strong background in both applied mathematics and biology, stemming from my dual-B.S. degrees from the University of Idaho, I bring a unique interdisciplinary approach to my work.My doctoral dissertation explored the adaptive trajectories of coral holobionts, combining ancient DNA analysis with modern metagenomics to understand how these complex systems respond to environmental changes. This research combined advanced bioniformatics and statistical techniques to create a complete story from high-dimensional ecology data. This work has been published in journals such as Molecular Ecology and Ecology Letters and presented at several (inter)national conferences.Currently, I am expanding my research as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Here, I am studying fungal pathogens in grasses using the same advanced genomic and bioinformatic toolkit that I applied to coral biology. This transition underscores my enthusiasm for applying my skills beyond coral ecosystems, tackling new challenges in plant pathology while advancing my interest in symbiotic systems.In addition to my research, I am passionate about teaching and mentoring. I have served as a teaching assistant at UT Austin, where I facilitated courses in computational biology, biostatistics, and bioinformatics. My commitment to education extends beyond the classroom, and I have mentored undergraduate and high school students in independent research projects, guiding them in the application of machine learning and bioinformatics tools to biological questions.As I continue to advance in my career, I aim to leverage my expertise in genomics and bioinformatics to address critical challenges across diverse biological systems. I am excited to pursue cross-disciplinary collaborations to drive forward our understanding of threatened ecosystems and the genomic basis of traits.
