I will be working under the zoo's animal behavior and training coordinator, furthering my knowledge of training theories and applications.

I learned the daily tasks of a dolphin trainer and observed training and enrichment sessions, as well as public educational shows. I applied my knowledge of animal behavior to actual training experiences. I also performed tasks to support the daily public dolphin shows and dolphin training sessions, including fish preparation, cleaning of training supplies/deck area and preparation of staging areas.

I worked directly with campers ages 7 to 15 to orient and educate them about zoo animals and processes. I was able to get to know zoo keepers and trainers, and at my request, I was allowed to shadow the animal behavior and training coordinator. I also regularly interacted with zoo patrons and administrators.
