Carmella D'Acquisto is a Writer & Editor at Milwaukee Magazine. Colleagues describe her as "Carmella was an exemplary reporter, writer, fact-checker and researcher for Milwaukee Magazine. I was her direct supervisor when she was an editorial intern. As an editorial intern, she fact-checked stories for our monthly print magazine, and she wrote articles for our website milwaukeemag.com and for print, covering arts, culture, news, events, etc.
Carmella was a fantastic intern – one of the most talented and hard-working I've supervised during my time here. Her willingness to go above and beyond what was expected of her set her apart from the beginning. She was always pitching story ideas and looking for opportunities to expand to take on more assignments. She published 50 stories with us over her internship, including many that she pitched and reported entirely on her own initiative. By the end of her internship, we trusted her with significant print articles for our Summer Guide issue, which we normally would have had an editor write instead of giving to an intern. She'd proven herself enough that we knew we could trust them to her – and she did a great job on them.
Carmella is self-driven, consistent, communicative, and she goes the extra mile with everything she does. It was a pleasure working with her. Operating in a deadline-heavy work environment, she was reliable and could be trusted to take care of her workload without much supervision. As a fact-checker, she was detail-oriented and careful, and her work ensured that errors didn't make it into the magazine. She's a talented writer and reporter with a bright future, and I'd absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a hard worker and skilled journalist." and "Carmella is a talented and hard-working writer, who has so many great ideas. She’s very in tune with what’s going on and what needs to be written about - making pitch meetings with her very productive. She also turned in stories that required very few edits and consistently met deadlines. Such a joy to work with!"
