I have always had an interest in health care, as a child I was always the one to care for any sick family member. As I grew older, I realized how much I loved science and enjoyed helping others, which led me to pursuing a career in Optometry graduating in 2003. After graduating I wanted to challenge myself by living and working in a different cultural environment to the one I had grown up in, and thus took up a position as an Optometrist in Trinidad. I have an aptitude for planning and executing events. Even as a teenager I would help plan family get togethers and enjoyed head off to the shops with my grocery list in hand. I continued to take on roles of planning throughout my life and served as secretary of Zimbabwean Optometry Association . Several years ago I moved back to Zimbabwe and I decided to open my own practice, where the emphasis is on careful organization with attention to detail. I enjoy developing a strong respectful relationship with my patients and making them feel at ease. I put the patient at the center of what I do, making high quality decisions to meet their eye care needs. My drive to constantly develop my skills in this area is why I won the Megafest award for outstanding hospital and healthcare leader of the year in 2021. I enjoy the business side of running the practice, this has given me the chance to manage multiple projects at once. I handle most things from hiring staff to ordering stock to attending to patients. Through my work in diverse fields ranging from social media to personal finance I have developed the ability to adapt quickly to new situations. I am familiar with the process of developing objectives, creating timelines and ensuring projects stay within budget. I like challenging myself and advancing on a new personal level and developing new skills I am constantly learning and currently doing MHLM, aiming to refine and drive myself to be a better manager. I am motivated by the fact that at the end of the day I have made a difference in the life of a patient. Seeing them smile when they try on their new spectacles makes me look forward to my work. I love witnessing the results of the marketing efforts from when a person contacts us making an inquiry to them coming in for an eye exam and then putting through an order for spectacles to them collecting.In my free time I enjoy Latin Dancing, or you may find me hiking or watching comedies. I look forward to working with healthcare professionals to bring the next level of innovation and care to my patients.
