I am a board certified internal medicine physician and marathon runner who prescribes food and exercise as medicine. My career began in the academic setting, however I quickly realized health care is best when offered in communities. Over the next ten years, I expect health care delivery to change drastically through information access, renewed focus on the patient-doctor relationship, and emphasis on prevention with non-pharmacologic approaches. That’s why I started HelloHealth, a boutique medical practice where I practice lifestyle medicine and use new health technology to enhance patients’ well-being.I am an avid writer with diverse experience including medical, lifestyle, and advocacy topics. My work has been published in professional journals, newspapers, books, and online publications. My latest book is The Women’s Guide to Health - RunWalkRun®, Eat Right, and Feel Better written in collaboration with Jeff Galloway and Ruth M. Parker. The book combines Jeff Galloway’s RunWalkRun® programs with best medical knowledge to help every woman attain a healthy, active lifestyle. For women interested in using diet and exercise to help prevent or treat medical problems, this action guide contains practical evidence-based tools to assist in having meaningful conversations with a personal physician. The book is particularly salient for women who want to use RunWalkRun® and the Mediterranean diet to achieve health goals.I attended the University of Maryland, College Park where I was a Banneker-Key Scholar and earned a B.S. in Biological Resources Engineering. I went on to graduate from the Emory University School of Medicine, and completed residency training at Cambridge Health Alliance as a Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School.
