I have been afforded the opportunity to travel to 58 countries in my lifetime, with many of those countries being frequented on numerous occasions. I have lived and worked outside the U.S. three different periods of time one in the Turks and Caicos Islands, another off shore of Belize and Costa Rica, where I attended Spanish Language School with my husband. I earned my Scuba Diving Instructor Certification and taught private lessons as well as a 3 hour college credit course in Scuba Diving at UALR, Little Rock, Arkansas, for several years. My Grandfather taught me to fly a single engine airplane. I exploited my "mid-life" crisis, by spending several months in the deep jungle of Honduras, dredging for gold and treating the natives that were sick from Malaria and other tropical diseases. I came way too close to loosing my own life as a result of Malaria a year after returning from the jungles of Honduras. I spent several years in Little Rock, Arkansas, training under two amazing Surgeons. One was a Orthopedic and the other was a Cardiovascular Surgeon. I did this to prepare myself to have the ability and advanced knowledge beyond my nursing degree and experience so I could provide medical treatment to people in need that live in remote third world countries. I worked with the country of Guatemala, through their Minister of Health, in an attempt to consummate the first International agreement with the U.S. network for organ sharing. It failed to finalize, not because of the efforts of Guatemala or myself, but the World Health Organization and the disorganization of the U.S. Network for Organ Sharing. . I trained on a specialized piece of surgical equipment, that through the non-profit ministry I had founded, received the donation of the new machine needed for preforming a liver transplant. I took this two weeks of training at the Pittsburg Hospital under the direction of Dr. Starzl, who was the pioneer of liver transplants.
