Presided over felony arraignments, preliminary and bond hearings. Issued arrest and search warrants for the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, MBN and other law enforcement agencies. Heard DUI Cases, Dept. Of Wildlife violations, and all misdemeanor crimes in the county, and some cases for The Natchez Trace.Conducted civil proceedings, including the issuance of domestic protection orders. Ruled on eviction cases for all apartment complexes in Madison County.

Serving my community as Alderman for Ward 3 was a great honor. I met and worked with many fine people, both citizens, members of the business sector and local school officials. Ward 3 is very diverse, blending a high percentage of commercial entities with the population of its citizenry. Bordering County Line Road, directly adjacent to the much larger city of Jackson and a heavily traveled interstate corridor, we had some needs not common to small towns. Because of this, I worked closely with Police Chief Charles Newell. With his blessing, I rode many times with members of our force and by doing so I gained tremendous insight into their needs. Facing danger every day as they did their jobs, they deserved and received my full support. Together we formed Ridgeland's first SWAT team.I believe that my greatest accomplishment during my tenure was being a member of the team who fought for, and won the right to build Ridgeland High School. Before that time our students attended a county high school and the Mayor and Board stood firm, unrelenting against some ill informed opponents. At the end, we and the School Board refused to allow the Justice Department to defeat us- and together we were victorious! As a Board member, I took part in preparing a Master Plan for our city. Many new facilities and services began to be offered to our community. As this was unfolding I saw the need to establish a website and a city magazine, both have been successful and continue today. Among my duties were oversight of the city budget, hiring (and firing) department heads, and attending to the needs of my constituates.
