Educational Designer
• Worked in Schools of Communication, Accounting and Computing Science, Agriculture and Wine Sciences, and Dentistry. Responsibilities included course and subject based learning design, development of learning resources, establishing a support framework for academic professional development in pedagogy and technology. Of particular note is the course development work conducted in 2010-2011 which involved a range of strategies to improve the first year experience, including an extended orientation program, student mentoring, common design approaches and resources, an integrated ePortfolio, a quarterly online magazine, and a first year teaching guide. • Leader of the ePortfolio Project (2007-2011), including initiation of the project, conducting a needs analyst and pilot evaluations of the Sakai ePortfolio, working with international consultants (rSmart and PebblePad), coordinating project activities and technical developments (including backend testing and upgrades), developing resources and nurturing a community of practice (including a staff site, student forum and blog), planning, coordinating and conducting professional development activities for both staff and students, and report writing / making recommendations to the OLE Steering Committee. Asked by PebblePad Director, Shane Sutherland, to co-facilitate a presentation on the use of the tool at the ePortfolio conference, 2011 (paid role). • Major contribution to the success Board of Studies proposal for a HSC pathways subject in 2012.• Initiated the CSU PODs (Places of Design) in 2009 as a collaborative professional learning space for staff.• Contributed to working parties and strategy groups, including the CSUDegree Initiative, ACODE benchmarking activities, evaluation and selection of CSU’s LMS• Facilitated professional development for EDs in the pedagogical application of technology.• Member of the ASCILITE 2016 podcasting team.• Awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Performance Excellence, 2009
