As a national sponsor AARP Foundation manages nearly 75 project sites in 22 states and approximately 10,000 job seekers at any one time. This requires us to work closely with employers to understand the job opportunities, qualifications, and work environment so that SCSEP can prepare its participants to become more qualified applicants. We are able to build Job Skills by providing a range of training opportunities:1) Community Service Assignments: The primary location for job training is with a "Host Agency" - a non-profit or public agency that serves as an actual work/training site.2) Specialized Training: SCSEP arranges for participants to be trained in the specific skills needed to compete in the job market. Training takes place either at the Host Agency or at other locations, such as community colleges. 3) SCSEP refers participants for on-the-job training (OJE) with private employers. SCSEP pays the employee's salary for a limited time, while the employer provides the orientation. The employer agrees to hire applicants who successfully complete the orientation/training period. The AARP Foundation is AARP's affiliated charity. Programs provide security, protection and empowerment for older persons in need, funded by grants, contributions and AARP. Show less
