My research focuses on application of my proficient mathematical skills and creativity toward functional analysis of early changes in neurodegenerative diseases using advanced transcriptomic data analysis and machine learning. Projects include using machine learning to identify a small set of transcripts in blood that distinguish AD from other neurodegenerative diseases with high sensitivity and specificity. Second, development of a new model system to explore how phosphorylation of tau protein affects aggregate polymorphism and subsequent effects to cellular structure. Last, exploration of new methods of single-cell separation for RNAseq.

My research focus as a PhD candidate at OSU was to gain a clearer understanding of Alzheimer's Disease pathology including a mathematical model of tau protein aggregation, testing of small molecule candidates for tau aggregation inhibition in vitro, quantification of methylated amino acids in authentic human PHF, transcript expression analysis of microarray data, and molecular dynamics of PHF6 tau peptide.
