Staffing Representative - College Relations
This position brought me back to where I started at LG&E. As the Staffing Representative in this role, I manage the company’s college relations program providing valuable work experiences for engineering, IT, accounting, and business students. The centralized college relations recruiter is responsible for all stages of the recruitment process, including recruitment strategy development, resume review, phone screens, and behavior-based interviews. Roughly 30-40 new students are hired each semester and an additional 60-70 students continue from previous ones. Each semester I work to grow the program, streamline processes to increase efficiency, and provide valuable experiences for the employees that I hire. I successfully plan and execute co-op and intern networking and educational events to grow the students’ knowledge of the business and I function as their HR manager until they graduate or leave the program. This includes handling all promotions, terminations, employee relations issues, benefits, or general concerns as well as completing their new hire and orientation training. I also manage the budget for the college relations spending in relation to the larger staffing budget.In this position, I learned the importance of relationship building and time management. I partner with over 80 hiring managers to ensure that their needs are met and that their students are performing adequately. I also leverage my relationships with universities, industry organizations, groups and associations, and key external stakeholders to maximize effective outreach and engagement. I have attended numerous career fairs, been the key speaker during career events, and sat on alumni panels. Each experience has introduced me to new individuals that continue to help me foster a successful program.
