North Berwick And Musselburgh

From April 2008 to January 2012 I was in charge of North Berwick Library which represented a move from an acquisitions and cataloguing role to dealing with the public and having line management responsibility. In January 2012 I moved to Musselburgh Library which has a larger team as it serves a population 3 times the size of North Berwick.Main Achievements Using a coaching approach to performance management I have worked with staff unsure about working with children to manage and run their own junior book groups I worked with a colleague from education to embed library membership into nursery enrolment in North Berwick and we presented a paper on the project to YLG Scotland I initiated a community calendar in Musselburgh which is now used as the main point of entry to the local website as maintained by the community planning partnership Focusing on welfare reform and the push towards digital inclusion I have initiated regular sessions helping jobseekers use the internet As chair of the library service marketing group I successfully introduced a loyalty requests scheme, a publicity campaign for digital audiobooks and an email newsletter I co-ordinated Live Literature Funding for adult events across East Lothian between 2010 and 2013 and organised 12 successful events in libraries across 3 years along with 4 outreach sessions in care homes and day care centres

This was an acquisitions and cataloguing role in which I led our conversion to Marc21. I also updated the library pages on the council website using the CMS. I instigated a project to encourage lapsed users back to their local library and a variety of marketing opportunities outwith library branches.
