I've been a part of the Atlanta PR community for more than 30 years and have worked with great people at five different jobs along the way. My experience includes crisis communications, consumer introductions, event management, corporate speech writing and more. Today I'm primarily focused on brand strategy.I'm very proud to be a founding leader at Jackson Spalding, a firm we've grown carefully and creatively since 1995. Over the past three decades I've partnered with a number of large clients such as Delta Air Lines, Publix Super Markets, Primrose Schools and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, but I've also contributed to projects with clients just getting started. My branding work includes naming companies, creating foundational elements such as mission, vision, values ,brand essence and personality and developing brand architecture systems.One of the most rewarding and interesting experiences of my career was getting to know Ashley Smith, the young mother who came to fame after accused killer Brian Nichols took her hostage following the Atlanta courthouse shootings. I was honored to help her navigate the myriad of decisions that came her way as an accidental celebrity.I was an active member of PROI for almost a decade and founded the PROI Worldwide Americas Crisis Group, a consortium of crisis communications experts who work together to help clients in Latin America, Canada and across the U.S. My friendships with peers at like agencies around the world have deepened my global outlook and helped to remind me that there is more that unites us than divides us. I'm happiest when I'm learning something new, which I fortunately get to do a lot these days as we enter into an era of AI collaboration. Writing, words, and story-telling is what got me into this business and, thank goodness, continues to be important in every aspect of my work.I enjoy gardening, combing through antique shops, and anything arts related- especially if it involves my talented sons. If I had three magic wishes, one of them would be for our society to reward teachers and artists as they do sports stars.
