For my senior project I worked with the Health Department to create an ordinance review checklist and resource guide to aid in the policy writing process. This idea came from a guideline in the Public Health Accreditation process, which deals with reviewing public health laws. During the project, I conducted literature views and research into other organization's policy processes. I also created a guide on evidence-based resources for the areas in which the Health Department has interest in.Beyond that I also spent my internship performing other tasks needed to be done at the Health Department. This included creating infographics on critical issues brought out by Community Needs assessment data and participating in community coalition meetings.

I worked under the Senior Policy Analyst in maternal and infant health. During my time, I conducted policy scans and reviews to find new opportunities for the city to expand their own policies. I then wrote white papers and created charts to provide support for these opportunities. I also tracked bills in the Illinois legislature that would impact current goals.
