My learning journey has had me teaching and leading in Canada, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Japan, and now Hong Kong. I started by earning a degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in Communication Studies, and then, after spending nine years teaching, I went on to earn a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. After earning my master’s degree I was fortunate to have received an Associate Principal position at three different international schools. To be an effective leader I believe it is imperative that we never forget what it is like to be a teacher, just as a teacher must never forget what it is like to be a student.Educational Leadership- Serving as part of the senior leadership team- Developing and implementing strategic initiatives, school-wide goals, policies, and processes to support learning- Developing, implementing, and revising virtual learning plans- Evaluating, developing, and implementing new and revised academic programs - Co-leading and facilitating a cross-divisional committee on continuous feedback and reporting - Assisting in the development and implementation of a macro-curriculum blueprint - Building middle leaders through divisional leadership training - Using data to inform decisions and policy decisions such as student access to Advanced Placement courses- Facilitating department head bi-weekly meetings and providing leadership support- Organizing and facilitating parent education - Co-leading and facilitating a cross-divisional committee on how global responsibility and service-learning might become authentically integrated into school systems and culture - Leading the process of using current assessment practices resulting in common HS assessment agreements and common standards-based grading and reporting practices - Collaborating in the development of a school-wide strategic vision, learning handbook, divisional shared agreements & student handbook - Leading the high school report card re-design processDivisional Management- Supporting faculty hiring in partnership with the HS Principal- Supervising and evaluating of high school faculty- Working in partnership with elementary and middle school to ensure purposeful program alignment - Sustaining a program of communication that keeps both internal and external school communities informed, including presentations, publications, and e-communications- Creating the high school master schedule in Vericross and Powerschool - Developing and leading new teacher orientation
