This includes working to update our policy documents to formalise our process and requirements;• Managing the Sustainable Transport Team and delivery of our schemes;• Working with the Traffic Team to deliver Sustainable Transport LTP Schemes in North Tyneside including assisting to identify and develop the schemes to be delivered each year;• Working to manage the delivery of Go Smarter to encourage behaviour change in North Tyneside in schools. This includes piloting delivery of new initiatives such as School Streets which we introduced in 2021;• Working with the PROW Officer to make the best use of our existing network in NTC;• Developing links between the different teams to encourage & develop sustainable transport within North Tyneside;• Leading the work to produce our LCWIP for North Tyneside;• Producing our Annual North Tyneside Transport Strategy Update for Cabinet;• Using available data and emerging technologies to make efficiencies in monitoring schemes and dealing with requests;• Updating policy documents when required;• Working to improve engagement with major employers in North Tyneside to encourage behaviour change away from single occupancy car trips;• Managing the North Tyneside TP benefits which includes the Cycle to Work Scheme and Public Transport Season Ticket Scheme;• Overseeing our Bikeability delivery in North Tyneside. -
Sustainable Transport EngineerCapita Apr 2018 - Mar 2019Newcastle Upon Tyne, United KingdomIn April 2018 I changed team within Capita to take up a newly introduced role of Sustainable Transport Engineer within Network Management in the Capita NTC Partnership.In this role my responsibilities were to:• Design and support the delivery of traffic engineering schemes with a focus around sustainable transport, applying best practice against NTC Cycling Design Guide;• Provide support to other NTC departments on transport matters; and• Lead on Travel Planning aspects of the Development Control service including monitoring the delivery of travel plans against targets and reviewing travel plans submitted to support development applications.I was the lead designer for the Walking and Cycling improvements from Northumberland Park Metro Station to Cobalt Business Park, I developed this scheme from concept design through to detailed design and then construction on site with the scheme being delivered in three phases costing approx £635 total. For this scheme I had to work very closely with our Construction team during both design and while on site. -
Transport PlannerCapita May 2015 - Mar 2018Newcastle Upon Tyne, United KingdomIn May 2015 I moved team within the Capita NTC Partnership to a Transport Planner role, where I worked on:• Development Travel Plan Assessment – Seconded to the Capita Partnership in Barnet to support Re in assessing Travel Plans submitted with Planning Applications, as well as assessing updated TPs following biennial monitoring (up to 5 years post occupation). • Development Control – Within the NTC Partnership I supported with advice regarding planning applications. • Development Control Northumberland - Seconded to the Highways Development Management Team in Northumberland County Council to provide the Highways' responses to Planning Applications for various proposed residential and commercial developments within Northumberland. This involved reviewing the proposals and identifying if any Conditions, Informatives, Section 106 or Section 278 would be required in order to ensure that the proposals were safe and would not have a detrimental impact on the surrounding highway network.• Business Case Development – I was involved in the production of the TAG compliant outline business case and full business case submissions. This involved the preparation of the strategic, economic, management, commercial and financial cases, along with preparation of the supporting documents such as the Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Monitoring & Evaluation Plan and Benefits Realisation Plan.• SSTC3 (Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor Phase 3) - I was responsible for many of the Transport Planning elements for the SSTC3 to inform the design including Arcady / Picady / Linsig junction modelling of each proposed junction along the route and producing the ITS report and Public Transport report providing recommended provision for the route as well as producing the Transport Assessment for the Planning Application.• Transport Assessments & Travel Plans - Production of supporting documents for Planning Applications for various developments.• Mentor to Transport Planning Apprentice. -
Project Engineer, Traffic & Road Safety / Project ManagerCapita Nov 2012 - Apr 2015Newcastle Upon Tyne, United KingdomWithin the Capita NTC Partnership I continued working within the Traffic & Road Safety Team as I had during my secondment delivering Regeneration & LTP schemes and then moved team within the Partnership to the Project Management Office, where I still worked closely with the Traffic & Road Safety Team. My duties included:• Managing the Capital LTP programme for scheme designs from concept design through to implementation. • Monitoring the LTP spend and producing update reports.• Within this role I continued to undertake the activities that I had previously within my secondment to North Tyneside Council within the Traffic & Road Safety Team; I continued to work on a mix of Regeneration Schemes, LTP schemes while also picking up other tasks such as parking design and producing TROs. • Liaising with designers, clients and the workforce throughout the project lifecycle from concept through to construction.• I was involved in designing LTP Schemes including evaluation, concept design, detailed design, consultation, bill of quantity, job pack and issue for construction to the workforce. • I have undertaken the scoping, feasibility, concept design options and detailed design including producing and issuing the job packs to the work force for various Regeneration Schemes.

Transport Planner / Project Engineer Traffic - SecondmentWsp In The Uk Aug 2011 - Oct 2012Newcastle Upon Tyne, United KingdomWhile at WSP I was given the opportunity to be seconded to North Tyneside Council to deliver the Regeneration Schemes and be involved with the LTP schemes in the Traffic & Road Safety Team.My role included taking the lead on the design of regeneration schemes where I was involved in all aspects of the schemes including scoping, concept design (various options), consultation, detailed design, site visits / meetings, sign design, liaison with the work force, bill of quantities, production of the Legal TROs, job packs, setting out and answering site queries.With the Traffic & Road Safety Team I was involved with various traffic engineering schemes and LTP schemes including investigation and design of one way streets, traffic access restrictions on residential roads, sign design, traffic calming, road marking redesign, car park redesign, on street parking design, pedestrian signage / route planning and consultation / implementation of TRO’s (including for a bus / cycle / taxi lane). Generally these schemes involved site visits, concept design, consultation, traffic flow analysis, collision analysis, obtaining existing service information, detailed design, bill of quantity, job pack, setting out and coordination with the work force. -
