Carrie West is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies at Schreiner University, chair of Communication Studies, and Coordinator of the Sport Communication minor. Carrie earned her PhD in Communication from the University of Denver with a focus on interpersonal and family communication, and a cognate in research methods. Her research focuses on resilience, financial planning for widowed people, grief, bereavement, privacy, and wellness, and well-being. Dr. West has served as an international consultant for the customer support industry as a Science Lab Director, primarily working on research design, statistical and qualitative analysis, and training. In addition to academic presentations, research, and consulting, Dr. West has presented workshops to a wide variety of audiences including family wellness and widow workshops for National Fallen Firefighters.
