In 2021, I was brought on board to TechTown Detroit, a nonprofit corporation, as the Accounting Manager to assist the Director of Finance with daily finance operations. However, I quickly assumed a leadership role when the director left the organization. Although the finance team was in a transition period, I set my own goals to find solutions for the improvement of TechTown's processes. I aim to problem-solve by developing plans, facilitating resolutions, and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and satisfy client demands. Some of my key achievements at TechTown include: • Researched a process to improve the internal reporting of credit card transactions and found and implemented a solution that involved zero cost to the company and substantial time savings for employees. • Researched refining the usage of Bill.com bill payment service to streamline the payables process and reshape approvals from time-consuming pdf e-signatures to one click within the software. • Investigated and coordinated training for the finance team as a consequence of an audit finding related to the tenant invoicing and collections processes. • Successfully completed the data conversion from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online for two organizations, which greatly improved processes and workflow for the finance team. • Stepped into a leadership role when the finance director left TechTown by managing banking, payables, and receivables. TechTown Detroit is a nonprofit that helps tech startups and local businesses launch and grow in Detroit. We also offer coworking, office, meeting, and event space. During my 20-year tenure with Joe Dumars’ Fieldhouse, I was responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable (A/P), and accounts receivable (A/R). Further, I supervised and led the accounting team in following best practices for resolving accounting issues and implementing cost-saving solutions. In my role as IT Coordinator, I oversaw the process of evaluating, installing, and maintaining company hardware and software, including Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange and Office 365. One of my most significant accomplishments at the Fieldhouse was my function in leading our team to successfully implement several major software system upgrades. Other achievements include:• Transitioned from in-house payroll processing to Paychex which required verifying the accuracy of sensitive data and converting all employees to direct deposit as well as developing a streamlined method of data conversion to the accounting software. • Coordinated the transition from network-based Great Plains Dynamics to Sage Intacct cloud-based accounting, running parallel books to ensure accuracy. • Transitioned to cloud-based bill payments utilizing bill.com, educating and coaching vendors to get familiar and comfortable with the process of e-Payments. Joe Dumars’ Fieldhouse opened in 1994 and became Michigan’s premiere athletic and entertainment facility. The Fieldhouse was home to adult and youth basketball leagues, pickup basketball, roller hockey leagues, roller hockey tournaments, and volleyball leagues. In addition, summer camps, birthday parties, field trips, and corporate teambuilding events were very popular.
