Growing up I always knew the career path I wanted to take. Knowing how indecisive I was, family and friends thought that I would change my mind. After a while they started asking if I was sure that I didn't want to be an artist or a dentist instead but I was insistent; I wanted to be a teacher.After completing my sophomore year at Community High School in Ann Arbor, I transferred to Washtenaw Technical Middle College. At 18 I had graduated with an Associates in Secondary Education and a macro in Early Childhood in addition to my High School Diploma. I continued with my education for a semester before taking a break from school to work full time.During this time I working at various establishments and volunteering my time to a multitude of events. Assisting others had always been fulfilling and this helped me realize what I had truly been passionate about. Although being a teacher was always my goal, helping others in becoming understood was my calling.I promptly began seeking employment in childcare and it felt like I was at home. Any anxieties I had previously about entering the field were immediately washed away. The fulfillment of providing care and creating a welcoming environment for the children was overwhelming. Childcare is so much more than what an individual or their space offers; it is a collaborative effort for all caretakers to understand the multiple key developmental needs of a child and offer support. My goal is to be a part of this collective and to support as best I can.
