CurrentAdvanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems (ATLAS)- Operates an Electroimpact Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) robot to efficiently manufacture high-precision composite parts for aerospace systems and research, achieving a 33% reduction in production time compared to traditional hand-laid methods- Experience fabricating over 500 flat panels and complex geometries, including wing skins, fuselage panels, spars, and pressure vessels, with sizes ranging up to 20 feet in length and precision tolerances within 0.015 inches. Ensures compliance with AS9100 standards throughout all projects- Optimizes parameters of each individual layup to ensure highest quality product and mitigate errors, resulting in a nearly 0% part scrap rate and significant increase in production efficiency- Conducts meticulous visual ply-by-ply inspections on every part, identifying and resolving defects with a 99% success rate in ensuring defect-free parts- Experience working with a wide variety of materials including carbon fiber, fiber glass, BMI, ceramic matrix composite, boron fiber, and dry fiber, with some in both thermoset and thermoplastic formats- Conducts regular maintenance on AFP robot, performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks daily to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime- Collaborates directly with customers in the aerospace industry to tailor and implement projects according to their specific requirements, ensuring alignment with their specifications and achieving high satisfaction
