I am a visionary man. I see a resilient future. I see a future of positive changes that will enhance our environments, improve our food production, restore our rivers and oceans, endorse social equity, and promote sustaining prosperity. I can see this future because I know who I am. I am a landscape architect. I will change the world. I hope that my role in developing the resilient future will be one of leadership and emulation. To design a resilient world requires the implementation of experiential empathy, hypernature, cultural synergies, economic viability, and beautiful forms. As a designer, I have the capacity to incorporate these principles into site programming that will create ecosystem services, restore viable habitats, promote renewable energy, develop successful public spaces, and illicit positive impacts on people's lives through artistic expressions. I also seek to design to satisfy my deepest aspiration of expressing my soul in physical forms. My greatest works are derived through the same processes as when I write poetry, or play the piano, or glance at a pristine landscape; in fine, it is as Arthur Erickson explained, "You do not think your way through a design, you feel your way. The act of creation is dictated by an inner motivation, the feeling of what is right for a composition whose meaning is not yet, nor may ever be, clear to the creator." I feel the most powerful and successful way to do that is to overwhelm their lives with meaningful and artistic design.
