A highly effective, adaptable and experienced project manager driven by the achievement of results. Encouragement and inclusion of staff in decision making is fundamental to my management style, developing strengths within teams to identify and deliver successful outcomes.I've managed many different types of projects in my 20+ years in the business, from economic and social to tourism & leisure and health. These include:-Building Better Communities in Skelmersdale : a £4m UK Government grant-funded scheme to improve the lives and livelihoods of some of the most deprived - but also some of the most committed - people in Lancashire (6 years, 5 as funding manager)Rural Lancashire Development Fund : £1.3m funding through EU and local Government funding. Initiated, brokered and managed, transitioning to a grant / loan fund, to support over 100 start-up and developing businesses across Lancashire. A Fund I fondly referred to as Rulade (6 years as manager)Lancashire Tourism Partnership: a large £7.5m project focused on the built environments across the West Coast of the County, in particular Fleetwood, Lytham, St Annes and Blackpool (Project Administrator, 2 years)Revitalising Town Centres: Before the big Mary Portas-based push for the rejuvenation of town centres, I came up with an idea for local shops and businesses to increase footfall / spend in small towns - Clitheroe, Chorley and Lytham. Only a small budget, £30k per town, but it sparked some innovative approaches for retail and wider business connections.Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust: On two occasions, firstly to establish a new Academic Health Science Network for the North West and a horticultural mental health centre. This followed by the collection, interpretation and upload of data to a bespoke online system, enabling analysis of existing and required roles in a rapidly changing demographic across the regional health network (Workforce Repository and Planning Tool - WRaPT).Assessment through NHS England of uptake rates in Cancer Screening, particularly focused on ethnic diversity and deprivation levels within GP areas of Lancashire and South Cumbria, as well as the potential impact on service delivery through projected population increase in older people to 2035 (the latter specifically on bowel cancer screening numbers).I have also written and appraised many grant funding bids (UK & EU) over the past 20 years, which I believe to now amount to well over 1,000, including as a local authority identified appraiser i.e. approved by local Government, and independently.
