Currently creating applications for molecular biology products, two areas of focus are protein preparation and western blotting/electrophoresis workflows.Previously worked with the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium to investigate how genetic variation influences epigenetic variation.Doctoral project was on understanding contribution of non-thermogenic brown adipose functions to glucose homeostasis in obese mice.• Collected extensive metabolic phenotypes to compare mice fed high or low fat diet• Identified differential gene expression among diets, ages, and mouse strains• Identified diet and genetic background-induced differences in brown adipose gene co-expression profiles associated with metabolic phenotypes• Performed targeted gene overexpression experiments on immortalized brown adipocytes • Organized and maintained mouse colony of >100 animals for longitudinal study involving multiple procedures, diets, and mouse strains• Mentored students at various levels in molecular genetics techniques, scientific writing and communication, and understanding scientific literature
