As part of the Health Services Department, I provided support and advisory services to the Worldbank Group Country Office staff and Travelling Staff in 13 countries, (Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe) acting as both facilitator and advisor in terms of health services available to staff within the bank and also at local healthcare providers. I performed provider evaluations during mission to the above mentioned countries and provided recommendations and support to staff in medical need.In addition, health promotion including travel medical advice was a very key component of this role.

As Medical Director of Occupational Health Services (Medfit Platform) in South Africa, I led a team focused on risk management and evaluation of health in the context of international assignees and global travelers. By consistent medical risk analysis of both individual health conditions as well as the context of the work location and description and, by using logic and defined matrices, recommendations could be made and risk mitigated both for the individual and the employer. International SOS is the world’s leading medical and travel security services company.

Working initially in the flight service, followed by 2 years in Medical Assistance for global travelers and then transferring to the Medfit platform in January 2012 as the medical lead for Occupational Health.
