For the last five years of employment, I worked at Lulus in Chico, CA. I had the opportunity to experience various roles while I was employed and I was able to gain many skills. I started out as a team member and quickly worked into a shift lead role within a few months of our Fulfillment department. I was able to offer problem solving skills and support the team with my quick critical thinking abilities. Working weekend nights required independent decision making and building trust in the work we did without senior leadership present. Our shift was one of the most successful in delivering productivity and employee engagement. Within a couple of years, I moved into a supervisory role where I had the ability to affect change and have a deeper impact on the outcome of a day. This role was likely the most demanding role I had at Lulus but also where I gained the most knowledge and skills. I learned leadership skills, emotional intelligence, projections and planning, systems information, among a plethora of other competencies. I was successful in improving processes to support better management of inventory, creating materials to support training of new hires into our problem solving team, and was an integral part of projects like managing back orders, cost shipping, and split order percentages. I had to opportunity to supervise in both Fulfillment and Inventory Management although the latter was a short period of time. In between the two supervisory roles, I worked as a Quality Assurance Analyst for our Engineering team that works on our internal order management system. Having background knowledge of the warehouse processes, I was able to help bridge the gap from the system to the warehouse functions. My role consisted of testing bug fixes, new software launches, and supporting projects I previously worked on but from a system perspective. Due to the remote portion of the job, it required effective communication skills and learning to communicate through multiple types of channels.
