Lead Teacher Head Start/CharterPOSITION SUMMARYLead Teacher is responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of the comprehensive education program. The Lead Teacher ensures that the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of the children as mandated by Head Start, state and local standards.AssessmentComplete a developmental screening of each child within 45 days of enrollment.Maintain a system for documenting observations and work samples for each child.Ensure that all required assessments are completed and entered into ChildPlus by prescribed due dates.Compile individual child results for reporting to parents and administration three times a year by prescribed due dates.Ensure that all assessments, home visits, and conferences are completed and entered into ChildPlus in compliance with prescribed due dates.Coordinate referrals for children with perceived needs with Principal, Learning Coordinator and Family Advocate Specialists.Home/School ConnectionAssist in the orientation of families about the program goals and objectives as well as soliciting their suggestions in various academic areas.Maintain open communication with families.Schedule and conduct two parent conferences and two home visits per year, or as often as needed for each child enrolled.Ensure that all parent/child engagement activities in the classroom and at home are recorded weekly as in-kind contributions.LeadershipSupervise and mentor Assistant Teacher.Conduct collaborative classroom team meetings to discuss, develop and review lesson planning, anecdotal notes, individual children, field trips, task management, etc.Ensure the Assistant Teacher assists with collection of anecdotal notes and work samples, assessments, and all required documentation in the educational files.Use reflective supervision practices with the Assistant TeacherMaintain an up to date classroom inventory.
