With a decade of experience in both the public and private sectors, I’ve had the privilege of a creative career path. From leading an arts council as the executive director, to steering one of the world’s largest Makerspaces as COO, then CEO, to helping small businesses adapt as the pandemic roiled business operations as a management consultant, I’ve been attracted to roles where I can meaningfully contribute. Academically, I earned a Master of Science in Criminal Justice & Public Policy, with post-grad studies in homeland security, before my ethics and values called me to serve my community outside of government, but learning about the law & public policy continues to be extremely useful. I went back for an MBA as I shifted to small business, and as an ardent lifelong learning advocate, I regularly add training & certifications to my repertoire, such as crisis and risk management, data privacy, and corporate training. This continuous pursuit of knowledge keeps me ready for new challenges and aware of emerging technologies. Civic involvement is close to my heart. I’ve been an industry speaker, policy advocate, and served on various non-profit boards, championing causes like the arts, affordable housing, criminal justice reform, and gun violence prevention. Volunteering as a local poll worker and participating in mutual aid networks are just a few ways I stay connected and give back.As a writer, I’ve published poetry, historical fiction, and essays on tech ethics, security, and privacy. When I’m not writing, you can find me exploring nature, experiencing the arts, experimenting in the kitchen, or taking some random class.
