As a college graduate of Saint Joseph’s College I have gained a solid understanding behind strategic management planning. During my time as a student I was in involved in market research for companies in the health, furniture, and oil industries. Additionally, in my senior year of college I interned at Rinck Advertising in Auburn, Maine where I had taken on multiple responsibilities that provided me with field experience and skill advancement. I improved and developed my skills in teamwork, market research, proposals, and campaigns. Other opportunities with Rinck include being involved in and exposed to decisions surrounding client analysis and online support.In my current role as a Disability Benefits Specialist at Unum, I actively manage disability claims, explain decision rationales and adhere to current claim needs timely and thoroughly. I communicate both verbally and in writing to claimants, employers and other constituents such as attorneys, employers, and healthcare providers. I listen to and discuss the daily struggles and experiences claimants with various medical conditions go through. With the information I receive I work to provide each person with the necessary financial, medical, and vocational resources our company offers. I coordinate file strategies utilizing specialized resources including nurses, physicians, and vocational consultants to meet claim management expectations in a high-risk legal environment. I render claim related decisions in accordance with policies and procedures, quality and service standards with partnership and direction from management, along with state and federal laws. As a previous Assistant Manager at Wal-Mart and employee at Bed, Bath, and Beyond I have gained experience in handling customer complaints and problems while establishing and maintaining a positive rapport.
