Pecan South is the national trade magazine for pecan growers, shellers and other members of the industry. The magazine is owned by the Texas Pecan Growers Association and is based out of Bryan, Texas. As managing editor, I oversee all sides of the production of the monthly magazine, including reporting on events, writing features, editing submitted content, scheduling columnists, and designing the layout.In addition to managing and producing the monthly trade magazine, this role entails the following: • Collaborate with team to create and publish one Spanish-language edition and consumer special edition annually, achieving expanded audience reach, more promotion, and increased annual revenue by more than $13,000 in first year • Manage website on WordPress by uploading each issue, optimizing SEO, reviewing orders, writing digital content, and partnering with contractor to maintain site health and status, achieved an average of 45,200 site visits per year • Develop and implement social media strategies for 3 magazines across 9 platforms, organically growing Pecan South’s Facebook followers from 762 to 2,720; Instagram from <100 to 1,235, and Twitter from <10 to 543 over 4.5 years • Write weekly harvest and market newsletter from September through January each year to give pecan farmers and industry members insight into the state of production, prices, and trade • Assist Association staff in planning and execution of annual conference and trade show with approximately 600 attendees through developing promotional materials, writing press releases, and managing onsite conference activities as needed

I produced day-of-air content for web, TV, radio and social for Annenberg Media, in order to provide coverage of stories that would appeal to our young adult audience. Collaborating with my team members and executive editors, I flushed out story ideas, used quick problem-solving strategies and ensured completion under tight deadlines. Furthermore, I created video packages and audio wraps for daily broadcast by using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition.

Alongside my co-editor, I formulated ideas for our semester-long projects and guided our reporters throughout the production process. I also wrote and created content for Annenberg Media's special projects desk.

San Antonio, Texas Area

In the Print Communication (COMM-3343) class, I worked alongside thirteen other students to edit, design, and produce the latest issue of Skyline magazine. The 64-page magazine showcases Trinity students' work as writers, photographers, designers, and editors. As managing editor, I oversaw all editing decisions, created -- with the Art Director -- a cohesive style guide, and led our team through the production process.

Trinity University Coates Library

In Special Collections and Archives, I helped to organize, categorize, and archive University files, documents, and anything else that Trinity needed archived. In addition to dealing with University Collections, I identified and recommended appropriate research material for approximately 100 professors, students, and guests to assist them with various projects and events. I also developed an organizational system for digitizing archival files and converting data to an online database to increase archival efficiency and accessibility.

As vice chair of the Board of Campus Publications, I met with the seven other members—made up of faculty, an administrator and students—and oversaw the Campus Publications program, which includes the campus newspaper and its advertising, the campus yearbook, and business.This entailed the following:• Provided oversight for the Campus Publications program through approving business budgets, reinforcing university rules and policies, ensured that the publications followed their semester schedule for advertising, yearbook, and campus newspaper• Reviewed application materials and discussed candidate strengths during interview process to select new editors • Communicated with other board members to make a united decision concerning requests from various campus publications

As a Student Athletic Trainer, I helped to maintain all the student athletes' physical well-being on and off the field, court, etc. My duties included helping out at different practices by making sure all of the athletes had enough water, taping up ankles or wrists, covering blisters, and providing attention and care.

I assisted patrons in any way necessary. This included answering questions about the different exhibits, directing them to these exhibits and to other areas around Houston, and taking their tickets. In addition, I also acted as another pair of eyes for the Museum by enforcing rules and policies.
