Community Leisure UK is UK wide membership association that solely represents charities and social enterprises delivering public leisure and culture services for communities. As Chief Executive I managed, developed and built the effectiveness and resilience of an organisation working across the UK. The initially focused on a re-positioning of the organisation based on member needs and the current and future landscape. This included changing the organisation’s brand and name from SPORTA to Community Leisure UK and refocusing our position in and influence over the landscape.Equally as important was to build an effective national presence for the organisation with partners and critical stakeholders. Building their trust in the organisation. This included working with national Government departments, advisers and civil servants; arms-length bodies from Governments; local authority representative bodies; and influential organisations in the charity and or social enterprise space. Vitally, this programme of change, purpose and positioning, built deeper and closer relationships with members across the UK. Through Covid-19, this resulted in galvanised and strengthened member engagement with the organisation, and membership grew due to the support services and programmes the organisation offered. “You have been exemplary in role, open, collaborative and taking your members with you all the way.” Strategic partner CEOwww.communityleisureuk.org@CommLeisureUK
