Working alongside the Chief Executive and leadership team to support the strategic place-based plans and partnerships of Rossendale Leisure Trust (RLT).Lead across the newly formed RLT Group for governance, structure, risk, collaborative working, and partnership support. Managing and progressing identified organisational developments for the trust across leisure, culture, health and wellbeing services, seeking to build effectiveness and resilience.Securing and supporting the development of health commissioned services for RLT and partners, placing RLT as a trusted and experienced delivery partner.Building the profile of RLT and Rossendale Borough Council’s public leisure and culture assets, the story and the value of RLT and the trust model. Working an additional day per week for a sub-regional collective of trusts. Focussing on identifying and proactively supporting them to future proof their services, focus on place, drive impact and agility, whilst enhancing their effectiveness and efficiency.Through 2021, managed and completed three collaborative mergers of local leisure and culture organisations into RLT, aiming to secure sustainable, effective and resilient community leisure and culture services for local communities. Closely linked to recovery and rebuild post Covid-19.

Community Leisure UK is UK wide membership association that solely represents charities and social enterprises delivering public leisure and culture services for communities.As Chief Executive I managed, developed and built the effectiveness and resilience of an organisation working across the UK. The initially focused on a re-positioning of the organisation based on member needs and the current and future landscape. This included changing the organisation’s brand and name from SPORTA to Community Leisure UK and refocusing our position in and influence over the landscape.Equally as important was to build an effective national presence for the organisation with partners and critical stakeholders. Building their trust in the organisation. This included working with national Government departments, advisers and civil servants; arms-length bodies from Governments; local authority representative bodies; and influential organisations in the charity and or social enterprise space. Vitally, this programme of change, purpose and positioning, built deeper and closer relationships with members across the UK. Focused on developing and delivering the SPORTA strategic plan. As a Members' owned Association, attention is on delivering to Member needs and priorities. This includes projects on trust development, procurement, contracting & diversification; financial stability, development & expansion; scoping and developing partnerships; and leading development & business networks of members.Senior responsible officer for Make Your Move, a £2.14m Sport England Lottery Funded programme across England. Providing revenue investment through SPORTA members to recruit and retain inactive communities into sustainable physical activity opportunities and services.

Led the development and implementation of a new £2.14m Sport England grant funding programme across England that is effectively managed, whilst fostering creativity and ownership locally. Key competencies in this role included: creating and managing new partnerships, including commercial partners; creating strong networking and collaboration; and developing a cohesive and progressive partnership with Sport England and their internal programmes.This role required an understanding of the community leisure and culture trust sector, financial management of public funding, an in-depth knowledge of grant funding processes, implementing effective project and programme evaluation, and building strong and supportive relationships and communication, with leisure and culture trusts and sector partners.

Recruited a new Chair. Led the recruitment new Board Directors. Chair of the Development Strategy Committee.Board member of the Remuneration and Employment Committee.

Helped deliver a strong national programme based on partnership building. Held responsibility for the strategic management of six of the nine English regions to deliver the £15m Big Lottery funded ‘Fit as a Fiddle’ programme. Responsible for ensuring the regions delivered to outcomes and performance indicators, were on target financially, identified and managed risks, and developed and implemented solutions. Played a key strategic role in gaining £4.5m of sustainability/extension funding into national and local Age UKs.

Strategically led and managed a Sport England-funded Community Sports Coach programme for six coaches. Responsibility for designing the regional strategy and converting that into implementing community sport delivery projects to directly increase participation across the county.

Designed and delivered a Sport England-funded leisure complex participation programme to meet the social and inactivity challenges of the surrounding community. Responsible for designing local strategy and coordinating and implementing outcome-led delivery.

This role focused on delivering a sports inclusion project targeting young people at risk. Developed competencies in communication, understanding, empathy, motivating, mentoring, supporting and engaging.
