As an Intern, I supported work in the Zero Emissions and Resilient Pathways. In the Zero Emissions Pathway, I provided technical support in developing various local and regional government GHG inventories, science-based targets, and high-impact action summaries to achieve zero emissions by 2050. My technical support included Climate Pollution Reduction Grant assistance in developing GHG inventories for Municipal Statistical Areas and impact analyses of GHG reduction measures in identified Low-income and Disadvantaged Communities. In the Resilient Pathway, I supported the transcription and communication of community engagement process outcomes to contribute to the development of climate risk and vulnerability reports. I also supported research and developed membership resources in topics such as Community Resilience Practices, Circular Economy, Retro-Commissioning, Renewable Energy Credits, and Building Decarbonization/Electrification.

As a Consultant, I provided technical planning assistance to Rangely, Colorado and Dinosaur, Colorado to aid their outdoor recreation economy development in partnership with the State of Colorado Regional Technical Assistance Program (RTAP) and US EPA Office of Community Revitalization. This process included the development and facilitation of a two-day community workshop consisting of informational presentations and interactive activities to engage the Rangely and Dinosaur residents and gather information about community values, needs, and desires. The workshop and steering committee meetings informed the creation and publication of a comprehensive Community Action Plan that details steps and resources to further outdoor recreation and economic development over the next 1-2 years.

As a Student Consultant, I worked with a team of fellow graduate students to support the Next 100 Coalition’s expansion of conservation efforts in the policy space. As a team, we co-created an analysis process to examine public engagement with state-level Environmental Boards and Commissions in states where racially and ethnically diverse populations comprise 50% or more of the total population (and Colorado). This process included conducting surveys, compiling/organizing publically available information, conducting research on equity/representation, and engaging with board/commission staff. Our team's research and data collection contributes to the development and launch of future programs within the organization.

As a Community Fellow, I served as a liaison between Appalachian State University and the Hunger and Health Coalition, a local non-profit addressing food insecurity in the High Country. In this role, I collaborated with the organization to recruit and manage volunteers consistently to address the needs of the organization. Additionally, I facilitated discussions with volunteers on topics of food insecurity, the role of Hunger and Health in the community, the importance of volunteering, and related topics.

In partnership with the Fish and Wildlife Service and Appalachian State's Office of Community Engaged Leadership, the Alternative Service Experience (ASE) program provides students with the opportunity to serve, learn, explore, and make a difference in communities during university breaks. As a peer leader, I spent six months developing curriculum, planning, and recruiting volunteers for a week-long ASE to Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge in South Carolina. The week-long program took place in March where I co-led 8 volunteers in 40 hours of community service constructing and repairing boardwalks across the barrier island. Throughout the week I led educational discussions about coastal conservation and climate change.

I served as an Appol Corps Leader for the welcome weekend of 2019 and 2021. In this role, I co-led a group of approximately 25 new students participating in Welcome Weekend Orientation. Throughout orientation, I conducted 3 - 4 small group sessions with incoming students where I introduced various opportunities available for students (educational, social, cultural, personal, and professional), provided advice, and facilitated discussions on student life at Appalachian State University.
