I'm passionate about sustainable dairy and play different roles in The Netherlands and abroad as entrepreneur, program manager, expert and speaker. I started in 2017 my own (start-up) cheese company De Fryske in The Netherlands, based on an integrated and sustainable value chain with a small group of Frisian farmers focussing on biodiversity. Mission: 1) contribution to (my) Frisian landscape and nature 2) show and inspire others in the dairy value chain. Since 2014 I've joined the Solidaridad Network and am responsible for global strategy, building partnerships with companies and providing support to regional offices to manage current and develop new dairy programmes. At Solidaridad, we see opportunities to transform the dairy sector of low- and middle-income countries into a competitive and sustainable sector. It's great to contribute to this development. Sustainable dairy is a major thread in my life, first as student and son of a dairy farmer and later as professional. Before joining Solidaridad I developed a Dairy Farmers Academy and worked for the Dutch Farmers Union, Wageningen UR, a dairy cooperative, the Dutch Dairy Association and the Dutch government.
