I have retired (Fall 2017) and am happily enjoying more time with my grandsons, gardening, reading and exlploring post career sense of identity. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed for private practice by the State of California Board of Behavioral Science since 2006. I have been working in the field of psychotherapy for more than a decade. I have been working in a private practice setting for years. Prior to that I have worked in a variety of settings including non-profit agencies, county mental health, and community college. I enjoy presenting at seminars and workshops as well as teaching introductory psychology courses.In addition to formal training at Santa Clara University and San Jose State University my work is enriched with years of life experience. I have reared two healthy children who have grown into high functioning, happy, mature young adults. I understand, first hand, what it's like to raise kids under the growing pressures they and their parents face in today's culture.My work toward healing and growth is built around Interpersonal Process Theory. In our earliest relationships we form expectations and assumptions, many unconscious, about how others will treat us. Sometimes, these unconscious expectations get in the way of developing healthy relationships. Our behavior is also influenced by the context of particular systems -- families, school, work all have an impact on our responses.
