Lead the development of climate adaptation and mitigation measures in lower Columbia River, including inventorying habitats for carbon sequestration potential, identifying cold water refuges, integrating nature-based solutions to reduce impacts of sea level rise, integrating carbon sequestration methods for offsetting restoration construction emissions, and developing standards for restoration projects that include climate mitigation approaches.Lead the Science Team with organizational Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts including expanding our partnerships with tribal governments and weaving traditional ecological knowledge into our restoration projects, science communications, technical conferences, etc. This includes securing funding for tribal representatives to participate, guide or co-manage projects. Provide policy and technical guidance/comments on various efforts, such as federal Blue Carbon legislation and the House Subcommittee on Climate Change for meeting carbon dioxide reduction goals.Developed quantifiable habitat coverage targets, using a historic habitat change analysis and generalized conservation biology approaches and garnered approval of the targets by scientific community within the lower Columbia River. Convene the organization's Science Work Group, various scientific workshops, and conferences and routinely speak publicly. Convene the biennial Columbia River Estuary Conference since 2010, a 3-day technical conference with over 150 researchers. Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program Jan 2000 - Apr 2008
    Fort Myers, Florida
Created peer-reviewed, numeric water quality targets using an optical model, seagrass depth targets and seagrass light requirements. Initiated in 2001 and managed a regional, inter-agency water quality monitoring network with 9 agency participants that comprehensively monitored the 270 square miles of coastal waters in Charlotte Harbor using a stratified, random probabilistic design.Analyzed data and presented to regional groups and conferences. Performed annual field audits of field sampling and reported findings in annual meetings. Convened multiple large technical conferences for scientists and resource managers to present area research and restoration efforts that obtained over 100 attendees per day, a Gulf of Mexico Alliance Community Stakeholder workshop, and several subject-based workshops.Developed Requests for Proposals, negotiated contracts and managed all aspects of contract award and administration for technical projects. Collected, synthesized, interpreted and presented to various committees, including elected officials and citizens, information regarding management issues, such as Minimum Flows and Levels and Total Maximum Daily Load rules and seagrass coverage status and trends, the latter of which resulted in multiple contributions to peer-reviewed technical publications. Collaborated with Lee County staff to site an atmospheric deposition monitoring station to assess nitrogen deposition.Initiated and developed, with The Ocean Conservancy, 2 workshops for volunteer monitoring programs that ultimately led to the creation of the State-wide Florida Water Resources Monitoring Council. Participated in the Steering Committee for the Florida Water Resources Monitoring Council through 2006.Convened, coordinated activities, facilitated discussions and staffed the CHNEP Technical Advisory Committee and four subcommittees.
