I am a qualified Social Worker accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers, I have worked in the Disability industry in multiple capacities providing me with a holistic approach to client services, support, and capacity building. Being a social worker for me is more personal than professional, it has been a means of connecting and understanding various perspectives of social issues, their impacts, and effects on clients and their multiple or limited support systems as well as what interventions are best suited for them as individuals. It is a role I enjoy even with its challenges. My experience is vast in the Disability Health Sector, I have supported various clients living with physical disabilities, mental health, and Behaviours of concern, I have been involved in a team in making recommendations for client’s intervention approaches and witnessed success. As a specialist support coordinator, navigating the NDIS with my clients and on behalf of them has provided me with an opportunity to comprehend a system that is otherwise quite complex for the participants.
