INSURANCE BILLING SPECIALIST|DOCTOR’OFFICE SETTING|DATA ENTRY OF MEDICAL CLAIMSI started working for a private doctor’s office in 2003. When I got there they were still using a type writer. I had no idea what it was, I thought it was a planter and maybe I should water it. Then I turned around and saw something familiar a Dell computer. So I rolled up my selves to get organized and drag the doctor into the computer age.The computer had MS Word and Excel. I began the task of entering the health insurance claims forms into MS Word which was done quickly and accurately. I also learned on the job about CRT codes and ICD-9.MS WORD| CRT CODES| ICD-9Finally some checks started to come in. However, there were some health insurance claims that were rejected. So once again I rolled up my selves to review, investigate and research the rejected forms. Some were just simple error, others then needed further investigation. Then I needed to contact the insurance companies directly.Next it was time to tackle the dreaded index cards. Yes I said index cards. They were making my eyes cross, I couldn’t see which patient’s health insurance company paid. So I put them all into MS Excel and my eyes stop being crossed. Oh yes, much easier to see who was paid and who wasn’t. I also worked with the office secretary to ensure we were keeping up with health insurance payments. Now the doctor has retired.
