Health and Wellness is not just my career field; it is my passion and one of the things that drives my purpose. My professional goals include educating and empowering people to improve their overall wellbeing—while helping businesses drive down healthcare costs through traditional and nontraditional wellness methods.In addition, I help clients—both in government and private entities—build health awareness of chronic conditions and provide resources to help employees improve their overall wellbeing. Currently, I serve as the Aetna Wellness Representative and Program Manager to the DC Government’s 36K employees. I develop engaging content on health and wellness topics, creating content for presentations, handouts, and newsletters.Some of my professional strengths include:Presentation Skills: I have developed and led presentations for diverse audiences on nutrition and food topics, fitness, weight management, and workforce challenges.Negotiation Skills: I negotiated contracts with vendors and external clinicians to provide additional services for employees such as massage, health screenings, financial health seminars, and catering services for corporate-wide programming.Program Development: I conceptualized and directed a wellness program—highlighted in the April 2014 edition of The NonProfit Times—focusing on stress management, nutrition, and personal wellness themes.My educational background and certifications include: MS in Human Nutrition BA in Social HistoryCertified Health & Wellness CoachCertified Reiki Master TeacherCertified Yoga TeacherIn my free time, I volunteer to provide Reiki services for hospital patients, family members, and staff.
