Catherine brings to Hunger Free Vermont a varied background of development work in both other non-profits and for-profit companies. Her favorite tasks in all of those settings involved writing, so she is a great fit for her position here, which allows her plenty of time at her keyboard, crafting proposals and reports. Her former work with foster families and the children placed with them made her keenly aware of the devastating effects of generational poverty and hunger on Vermont families. For the last eight years she has also been deeply involved as a volunteer in a small nonprofit providing relief to children and families in rural Uganda, opening her eyes to the complexity and depth of global poverty. This painful knowledge makes her very grateful to find herself a part of our dedicated group of anti-hunger advocates who are fighting to eliminate the root causes of hunger.
