My legal practice focuses on employment law, administrative law, civil litigation, and contract disputes, with an emphasis on matters involving state occupational licensing boards and public employment. I also represent small to mid-size employers on human resources and personnel matters, such as issues related to FMLA, non-compete agreements, commissions/bonuses, and on-boarding/off-boarding. My passion is helping both employers and employees succeed in working collaboratively and productively in a mutually-rewarding professional relationship. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science with highest distinction in 2003. I attended law school at The University of Texas School of Law, where I received my JD with honors in 2006 and served as Co-Editor in Chief, Texas Journal of Women and the Law (2005-2006).Since beginning the practice of law in 2006, I have been actively involved in the North Carolina Bar Association. I previously have served in leadership for the Young Lawyers Division and on the Board of Governors/Board of Directors for the North Carolina Bar Association/North Carolina Bar Foundation. In 2009, I received the NCBA's Charles F. Blanchard Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. In 2017, I received the NCBA's Robinson O. Everett Professionalism Award. I served as a N.C. State Bar Delegate to the ABA’s House of Delegates from 2009-2011.
