I am a dual specialist practising across H&S and Inquests & Inquiries work, and I currently lead the Manchester arm of Eversheds Sutherland’s Inquests, Inquiries and Health & Safety team. On the H&S side I regularly represent organisations being investigated and prosecuted by HSE, Police, EA, ONR and Local Authorities following health & safety or environmental incidents, with particular expertise in crisis and incident management, and dealing with the immediate aftermath of an incident and liaising with regulators. I guide clients through investigation processes to ensure a thorough and methodical post-incident review; provide advice and training to client boards and leadership teams, and represent organisations during all stages of legal proceedings, including inquests where there has been a fatality.I act for clients across numerous sectors, particularly consumer, nuclear, manufacturing and logistics, and I routinely advise on general safety compliance in areas such as contractor management; fire and premises safety; and occupational health and well-being. I regularly co-ordinate large-scale safety compliance review projects across multiple jurisdictions - helping clients to review their risk management policies and procedures, and also assess their cultural and leadership approach to safety. On the Inquests, Inquiries and Investigations side, I have worked on a number of high profile public and independent inquiries - including the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry; the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry, and the Independent Inquiry into Telford Child Sexual Exploitation, where in each case Eversheds Sutherland acted as Solicitors to the Inquiry. I have also acted for Core Participants in the Grenfell Tower and IICSA inquiries. Most recently I was appointed Solicitor to the Inquest into the death of Sabina Rizvi, who was killed in March 2003, a judge-led inquest conducted under Article 2 which concluded in March 2024.I hold an LLM in Health and Safety and Environmental Law.
