I have assisted with the firm's marketing and social media platform with recommendations for best practices based on our business, brand, clientele, and resources. I also evaluate the work of prospective authors and contribute feedback to aid in their success, regardless of genre, experience, or skill.Besides assisting authors in manuscript development, I have contributed to a book about green construction and renovation practices, edited two editions of a scientific journal, and ghostwritten a book about diet protocols for a client to distribute to patients.

I wrote and edited a variety of marketing materials, including press releases, blogs, and case studies.

As a member of the quality department, I originated, edited, and revised technical documentation, including component specifications, test methods, procedures, and policies in accordance with good documentation practices and any applicable regulations (e.g., 21 CFR Parts 211 & 820, as well as regulatory requirements in the EU, Brazil, China, Japan, and Canada). Also participated as a functional lead on a major data migration project for our design and distribution centers.I assisted in preparations for our site’s first MDSAP audit and most recent ISO 13485 certification, including working in the back room to ensure auditor requests were quickly and accurately fulfilled. A lead auditor for my site’s internal audit program, I led or assisted audits of our site’s programs and systems for calibration, maintenance, warehouse, labeling, regulatory, management, and combination products.In keeping with my passion for and understanding of the importance of quality systems, I have also led training sessions for raw material specification and inspection plan creation, a 3-day training seminar on good documentation and quality practices at one of our manufacturing facilities, and have performed extensive tech writing and document review training sessions for a group of off-site contractors.I was promoted to staff technical writer in May 2017 and led meetings that brought together the tech writers across all departments at our site to ensure consistency and to share best practices, tips, and tricks.

I helped edit business leadership and training materials—including case studies, manuals, and web pages—and convert training materials in preparation for translation and for ADA compliance.

I edited and typeset for this publishing house, which is where I gained experience with “feature-length” fiction and nonfiction books (go to covenant-lds.com for a company overview). I participated in just about every level of the organization’s publishing preparation process, doing everything from manuscript evaluation, line editing, and copy editing to typesetting and image selection, placement, and captioning.

My primary responsibility was overseeing the production of monthly program guides for the following properties: BYU Television, an international service with content from BYU and the university’s sponsoring church; and the KBYU stations (KBYU Eleven and Classical 89), which were the local PBS and PRI affiliates.I interviewed, hired, and managed the efforts of student writers/editors and student designers for whom I offered real-world experiences and internships. I also oversaw and produced print advertising—in promotion of television and radio programs—that appeared in the local newspapers, select niche magazines in the area, and playbills.Besides writing and editing according to house styles (including Chicago and AP), I can typeset and even design print products in a limited capacity. I also have experience in creating and maintaining a brand image. In all I did, I built strong and advantageous relationships with the various vendors, most notably with the university’s print and mail services.

I worked weekends on copy editing articles and writing headlines and cutlines.

I was responsible for designing and editing fliers, mailers, and newsletters; supervising graphics-oriented projects; maintaining web-based property listings; and serving as a design consultant and trainer for the Albuquerque office.

I proofread documents for publication or translation, including assisting with a project to put Church magazines on the web and on CD-ROM; I also double-checked coding for this project.

I did whatever needed to be done, whether it be research, writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing, or checking artboards and bluelines.
