I am an Associate Professor of Communication at George Mason University. I teach courses in Communication Theory, Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Mass Media Theory, Business & Professional Communication, and Persuasion. As of August 2020, I am the Undergraduate (B.A.) Program Director for the Department of Communication at George Mason University. Duties will include departmental promotion, outreach to current and future students, as well as alumni, advising students in the program, and managing the BA program. I look forward to maintaining a strong program and building for the department’s future. Since 2007, I have been the Faculty Director of the Italian Media, Culture, and Society study abroad program in Milan, Italy. This six-credit multidisciplinary program has introduced students from GMU and other universities around the country to the exciting and diverse country of Italy through lectures and excursions. Students can study topics such as Fashion, Italian Media, Film, Italian Politics, History, Art History, and much more!From 2011 to 2020, I was the Department of Communication’s Academic Advising Director. In this role, I designed, implemented, oversaw, and evaluated an advising program of hundreds of individual students; I assessed diverse needs of students who used the Communication advising services; and I adjusted the structure of the program to address those needs. I have also helped to create an advising training program, improved the student/advisor communication system, and implemented a graduate-student advisor intern program with the College of Education and Human Development. Over the years, I have managed eight graduate/part-time advisors.
