Hardworking | Dedicated | Engaging Catherine is a dedicated and hardworking individual who has experience in the public and nonprofit sector. As an eighth generation North Carolinian, she is passionate about environmental conservation and building sustainable and climate resilient communities in her home state. She is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion both professionally and personally.Her experience in the public sector has allowed her to hone her skills in public speaking, effective communication, conflict resolution, risk management, coordinating staff, program development, land stewardship and organizational leadership. Her current role supports the creation and management of inclusive and accessible green spaces, fostering connections between urban communities and the natural world.Catherine has experience in nonprofit organizations from her internships with the Eno River Association and the Cape Fear Group of the Sierra Club. In these roles she developed and led engaging environmental education programs, coordinated volunteer groups, organized and contributed to public hearings, engaged stakeholders, collaborated with local, state and federal government officials, contributed to local history projects, and impacted fundraising campaigns, marketing and social media initiatives. Her work engaged communities and impacted environmental advocacy and public policy.Catherine earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Conservation from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. During her time at UNCW, she studied abroad in Iceland with The Green Program and The University of Reykjavik's Iceland School of Energy, focusing on sustainable energy, ecotourism, sustainable fisheries, and land stewardship.Catherine is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Natural Resource Management- Policy and Administration with a Graduate Certificate in Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University.Achievements: City of Raleigh 2023 Leadership Development Program.Certifications: First Aid and CPR, Wilderness First Aid, ACA Certified Kayak and Paddleboard Instructor, PADI Certified Open Water Diver, PADI Certified Specialty Diver- Underwater Photography and Videography.Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, ArcGIS (ArcPRO), Adobe InDesign, Canva, SAS Statistical Programming, Grant Writing, Public Speaking, Constant Contact Software, Schedule Management, PeopleSoft Financial Management Software, Data Analysis, Environmental Education (10+ years).
