I'm passionate about connecting children, young people and the outdoors, yes directly, but also through system change. Everyone has a stake in ensuring children have a great childhood – from transport planners to schools, from parents to the media. And we can all make a difference either individually or professionally.As a consultant, and through my own social enterprise, and as a Board Member for The Wild Network, I help people and organisations make that connection.Over the last twenty years I’ve bid for, secured and managed multi-million pound programmes. I've lead far-reaching campaigns. I’ve written national policy documents and been a spokesperson on many issues related to children and young people’s wellbeing. I've worked in various sectors - FE, HE, youth and community, adult skills, regional development, and play, and been a teacher and a deputy head of a Children’s Centre. I love public speaking, facilitating workshops and writing bids and policies. I am happiest when outdoors and especially love to take folks outdoors, because that’s often when we can be our most creative.I'm now really enjoying bringing together the experiences of the last 20 years to build Outdoor People as a social enterprise, working both hyper local and UK wide. I'm also enjoying developing the Outdoor People Shop – engaging the ‘consumer inside’, making the outdoors easy, and by so doing engaging a wider audience in the debate about children outdoors.
