Provide leadership and direction of the Education and Professional Development Team in the delivery of the Service and challenges associated with the delivery of the Taking Organ Donation to 2020 Strategy.Deputise and be the recognised deputy for the Assistant Director Education and Governance.Demonstrate and be a source of expert knowledge of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation. Undertake analysis to provide interpretation and clarity around all standards of patient care and services associated with Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation to develop maximum positive impact on patient experience, working closely with frontline Organ and Tissue Donation teams and associated stakeholders to ensure practicality.Promote continuous quality improvement to improve and address performance issues across the service working closely with colleagues across clinical governance and quality teams in NHS Blood and Transplant. Be accountable for all learning activity within OTDT and support the Assistant Director Education and Governance in the development and execution of a long-term strategic framework for staff training and professional development with emphasis on continual service improvement embedded throughout the service.Develop effective partnerships for learning and lead on commissioning services toMaximise opportunities for cross organisational working. Partners will include national and local education providers, third parties who supply specialist training such as, learning & development solutions and external consultants etc.Champion, lead and develop a team of staff committed to learning development and continuous service development and improvement. To develop and coordinate activities within national organ donation teams across the UK ensuring compliance with the European Organ Donation Directive.To develop an effective and efficient Quality Management System minimising risk to organ donation and transplantation whilst maximising the number of organs available for transplantation. Working closely with the National Quality Manager, Heads of Service Delivery and Development ensuring the operational delivery of governance and national performance framework by developing and implementing the standardisation of national procedural documents. Proficient use of document control system (QPulse) and provision of copy holder training for those working in ODST. Development of Quality Manuals and Training Matrix. Audit training complete, participation in scheduling and performance of internal national audits. Working with ODST and the EU ODD project group in implementing Serious Adverse Reporting System (SEARS) within each donation team. Over all managing huge organisational change to work towards developing a positive culture of quality within national ODST.

Working clinically in critical care to facilitate the entire organ donation process.Responsible for education, system building and close liaison with nurses and clinicians in order to maintain a robust mechanism to support identification and referral of all potential organ donors.
