ScotRail provides passenger train services throughout Scotland with intercity, regional and suburban rail services across the Scottish national rail network. During my time as Commercial Director I was responsible for achieving revenue targets, all marketing activity, managing revenue protection and developing retail estate at stations. I managed a team of 63 staff to deliver 130 franchise obligations and achieved growth in ecommerce and business sales of 30+%, increasing revenues from ticketless travel by 3m, increasing advertising revenues by 45%, improving retail income by circa 100k and and driving 85% travel by smart ticketing of the ticket types available on smart. I helped positioned ScotRail as a credible tourism enabler across a wide range of tourism partners and regularly presented at large and small industry tourism and transport conferences. Under my leadership the Commercial Team moved from being a number of disparate teams to one unit executing a defined strategy and I achieved one of the highest staff engagement scores in the annual survey.
