Hello, I'm an experienced editor and proofreader, and a professional-level member of the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP). I offer developmental editing, copy editing and proofreading, across a variety of different types of writing including fiction, non fiction, blog posts and academic studies. My background is in newspaper and magazine sub-editing, primarily the Guardian, The Sunday Times, Which? and The Grocer. I've also worked as an in-house copywriter for Hastings Direct, an insurance firm, and for a local council, where my roles included public relations, communications and tourism marketing. Before my editing career, I taught English as a foreign language for five years, in the UK, Japan and Italy, and I still do a little tutoring now.My personal interests are in food production, foraging, wild food, self sufficiency, fermenting, preserving, health, adapting to climate change, resilience, and the evolution of language – however I am always happy to be inspired and educated by a new subject. That is one of my favourite things about this job. I have worked well with several neurodiverse authors, and take different communication styles in my stride. So if you are looking for a dyslexia, autism or ADHD/ADD-friendly editor, please feel free to get in touch.
Listed skills include Copy Editing, Newspaper, Proofreading, Journalism, and 25 others.
