I am the Advanced Research Fellow at the Institute for Security Science and Technology at Imperial College London, where my research focuses on the implications of digital technologies for building resilience, sustainability, and trust in societies and industries. My interdisciplinary work spans Computer Science, Economics, and Digital Transformation. I have been fortunate to advise governments, corporations, and NGOs on key topics like cryptocurrency, blockchain, and AI-driven innovation.My passion lies in the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs). I co-founded the Imperial College Centre for Cryptocurrency Research and Engineering, the first academic center globally dedicated to the study of blockchain and cryptocurrency. My research is focused on how these technologies can revolutionize decision-making, security, and transparency across various sectors, including finance, smart cities, and critical infrastructure.With a lifetime research grant portfolio of £6.1 million, I have had the opportunity to contribute to pioneering projects that explore how digital transformation and data-driven technologies can help tackle the complex challenges of our interconnected world, including climate change, cybersecurity, and societal trust. I am particularly focused on the economic structures emerging from the digital economy and how they affect global governance and policy development.In 2019, I was honored to serve on the United Nations Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation, exploring how the international community can better collaborate on digital governance and AI ethics issues. I was also a Fellow of the World Economic Forum, contributing to discussions on the future of technology and society.My background includes both academic and industry experience, including roles as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in the private sector, where I led large-scale technical teams, and as a Visiting Lecturer at Imperial College Business School, where I taught “Digital Transformation: Leading Real-World Change” to MBA students.I am always interested in exploring how emerging technologies can enable more equitable, transparent, and secure digital societies, and I welcome opportunities to collaborate with like-minded professionals and organizations.
