Ever since I was a kid, I have loved to write. I originally wanted to write books, but my interests eventually evolved into a passion for journalism, which is what brought me to the Media School at Indiana University. I am now a junior at IU majoring in journalism with a public relations concentration and gender studies. I added my gender studies major almost on a whim during the first semester of my sophomore year. I had taken my first gender studies course the prior semester and I absolutely loved it, so I decided to take some more classes within the department and add it as a second major. Since then, gender studies has become something I'm really passionate about. In my future career, I would love to be able to mesh both PR and gender studies together. During my time at IU, I've been involved with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee within the Public Relations Student Society of America —first as a committee member and now as the head. It's given me opportunities to talk about and educate others about important issues and how they relate to PR, which is something I'd love to do after I graduate.
